Robbert Fossen & Dave Warmerdam
Robbert Fossen already has a substantial track record in the Dutch blues scene. A few years ago he spent an evening in a rehearsal room with a group of children aged 9 to 13 years old. This ‘band’ opened the show with Robbert at his Bluesnight in Lisse. Dave Warmerdam was the then 13-year-old talented pianist of that band.
Meanwhile Dave is 16 and has already gained a lot of stage experience. He is also starting to become a good singer and guitar player. A promising musical career is developing.
Alongside them playing as a duo they also perform in some other projects, including the 12-member band named Memphis Soul Stew.
As a duo they mainly play the blues from Chicago with songs from Otis Spann, Muddy Waters and John Brim. In other settings, such as the Memphis Soul Stew, also songs by Ray Charles, Bill Withers, Sam Cooke, Solomon Burke and The Staple Singers are in the repertoire.
February 2017 they made it to the semi-finales at the International Blues Challenge in Memphis. October 2016 they won the Dutch Blues Challenge.
Dutch Television followed them to Memphis.
