The Antones, a Dutch Rhythm & Blues Band have been around for many years. Alongside performing their own songs they play covers from Hollywood Fats, James Harman, Bobby Bland, The Electric Kings, Marc Tee, BB King, Sam Cooke, Albert King, The Paladins, Sean Costello, The Fabulous Thunderbirds, Louis Jordan, Sugar Ray Norcia, and Kim Wilson.
The Antones have created their own unique 50s and 60s jump, jive and swing sound to which you just cannot stop moving.
Undeniably, Marc Bocken is the front man. His characteristic warm soulful voice is recognizable anywhere. Marc is famous for his appearances with American soul and blues legend Solomon Burke. Huub Habets, a founding member of the band for 25 years, is the driving force behind the sound of the band. His flamboyant drumming style is both powerful and full of swing at the same time. On piano and Hammond you’ll find "Dizzy Ace" Hustinx. His sober style is in contrast with the drumming style of Huub and provides the driving balance. Pieter Place, playing the semi-acoustic guitar virtuously, is hardly amplified and therefore sounds pure and sincere. Maurits van der Stappen plays his bass swinging but always to the point. He is an essential asset for the Antones sound. Finally blues harp player Tom Verhoeven. He is a rising star in the blues scene of the Southern Netherlands and Belgium. His sensitive draw- and blow handling largely determines the swinging Antones sound.
The Antones, there is not a better alternative to staying at home on the couch.
